To scramble a configuration parameter in a configuration filesfile, add the keyword .encrypted to the configuration. The next time the application starts, it scans the configuration file file for unscrambled values in the file and scrambles the valuethem, and then saves the updated file to the disk.

The parameter *.pin = 1234 is considered sensitive and therefore should be scrambled. To scramble the parameter, add .encrypted to it:

Code Block
titleExample: Encrypt parameter
*.pin.encrypted = 1234

The server will find the unscrambled value and scramble it:

Code Block
titleExample: Resulting encrypted parameter
*.pin.encrypted = encrypted:MCa12==

The scrambling will create .seed files that must not be deleted, or the scrambled value can not be unscrambled.
