How to use the mobile app

 How do I activate a mobile virtual smart card in Personal Mobile?

Download the app Nexus Personal and follow the instructions from your service provider to activate your mobile virtual smart card.

Example: Activate Personal Mobile with a QR code

  1. Start the Nexus Personal app on your mobile device. 
  2. Start activation:
    1. The first time: Click Activate on the start screen. 
    2. If you already have active virtual smart cards: Click the QR code symbol on the bottom of the page. 
  3. Scan the QR code. 
  4. Select a PIN and enter it when prompted. 
  5. If fingerprint or face recognition is available on your mobile device, choose to activate them or not.  
  6. If you get the option, select a layout of your choice.
    Depending on the configuration, the layout might already be configured for you, and you don't get this choice. 

 How do I log in with Personal Mobile?

Enter your PIN or use the biometrics you have chosen to authenticate.

 How do I display the back side of a mobile virtual smart card?

If the mobile virtual smart card has a back side layout configured, then it is marked with an arrow symbol. 

To display the back side of a card: 

  1. Start the Nexus Personal app on your mobile device. 
  2. On the virtual smart card, click on the arrow symbol on the bottom right.
  3. Verify your identity with PIN or biometrics.
  4. Swipe your finger over the display for proof of authenticity.

How to manage PIN

 How do I change my PIN?

The PIN of a mobile virtual smart card can be changed at any time: 

  1. Start the Nexus Personal app on your mobile device. 
  2. Click on the mobile virtual smart card for which you want to change the PIN. 
  3. Click on Change PIN on the bottom of the page. 
  4. Enter the new PIN.

 What happens if I lose the PIN?

For security reasons, the PIN is not stored anywhere, so there is no way to get it back. Instead, you must reactivate the mobile virtual smart cards for the connected services.

If something happens to my phone

 What happens if my phone is stolen?

With the Smart ID Digital ID solution, your administrator can lock the mobile virtual smart cards. When you have a new phone, download Personal Mobile and activate new mobile virtual smart cards in the Smart ID Self-Service. For more information, see Person has changed phone. 

 What happens if I buy a new phone – can the mobile virtual smart cards be moved to the new phone?

For security reasons, it is not possible to move mobile virtual smart cards to another device. Download Personal Mobile to the new phone and reactivate the mobile virtual smart cards for the connected services.

About devices and mobile virtual smart cards

 Can I have mobile virtual smart cards on multiple mobile devices?

Mobile virtual smart cards are linked to the Personal Mobile app in the mobile phone or tablet. If you have several mobile phones or tablets, mobile virtual smart cards can be attached to each unit.

 Can I have multiple mobile virtual smart cards on one device?

Yes, you can create several mobile virtual smart cards in Personal Mobile on the same mobile device, and you can mix cards for OTP authentication and online authentication. Here is an example with several cards for different purposes:

 When users share a device, can they all use it to authenticate with Personal Mobile?

Yes, several users can use the same device to authenticate. Each user has their own mobile virtual smart cards, with different PIN and services connected.
