Use case scenario
A self-service user wants to change the PIN code for a card, for example, if the password is forgotten or if the wrong PIN code was entered multiple times.
This article describes how a self-service user unblocks a card and changes the PIN code in the Cards package in Smart ID Self-Service.

- The card must be in state "active"
Step-by-step instruction for the self-service user
Log in to Smart ID Self-Service
- Log in to Smart ID Self-Service with your user account.
Unblock/Change PIN
- In Smart ID Self-Service, click Card.
Click Possible actions and select Unblock/Change PIN.
To cancel the process, see "Cancel the process" below.
- Click Next and Smart ID Desktop App opens up.
- If multiple card readers are used, select the correct card reader which the card is inserted into. If only one card reader is used, tes selection is done automatically.
- Enter a new PIN code twice.
- Click OK in Smart ID Desktop App and you will be directed back to Smart ID Self-Service.
- Click Next.
Cancel the process
To cancel the process:
- Click Cancel to close the process.
- Click Next to proceed with the process.
