Personal Desktop Client requirements and interoperability

This article is valid for Nexus Personal Desktop Client 5.8.6 and later.

This article provides a list of supported platforms, formats, third party products, and so on, for Nexus Personal Desktop Client. All listed hardware and software can be used in supported configurations of the product.

The listed third party hardware and software have been verified with the current or a previous version of Nexus Personal Desktop.

Operating systems

The following operating systems are supported:

    In Ubuntu, Snap-packaged versions of browsers (for example Firefox) do not support third-party PCKS#11 modules. This is a problem with the packaging of Firefox in Snap, not a problem with Personal Desktop Client. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1734371 for details.

Smart card readers

The following smart card readers are supported:

• PC/SC compliant readers

• PC/SC 2.01 Part 10 compliant PIN-pad readers

• HID/Omnikey 6121 Mobile USB smart card reader (to be used with smart cards in SIM format)

The following crypto interfaces are supported:

Languages

Language support is provided in the default package for the following languages:

• Swedish

• French - on request, as an upgrade package

Languages that are not included in the standard package can be delivered by Nexus in a customized package upon request.

Software token formats

The following software token formats are supported:

• PKCS#12 - Supports private keys encrypted with symmetric key generated from PIN.

• PSE - One private key, otherwise as above points

Personal Desktop plugout

Plugout is a web browser integration option in Personal Desktop. All major browsers are supported.
