Publish certificates in Certificate Manager

This article describes how to publish a certificate, produced by Smart ID Certificate Manager (CM). The certificate can be a public key certificate (PKC) or an attribute certificate (AC). The publication can also be delayed. It is not possible to publish a certificate if the option 'publication not allowed' was selected when the corresponding token was issued. This task is done in the Certificate Controller (CC) in Certificate Manager.

Prerequisites

This task requires that:

  • The Certificate Controller (CC) is running.
  • The officer has the following role:
    • Publish certificate
    • If the officer has the two roles Publish certificate and Manage Revocation password, a revocation password must be set for the certificate to be published.

  • Enough information is known to identify the certificate in the database.

  • A search for certificates has been performed as described in Search for certificates in Certificate Manager and the user certificate(s) to be published are all present in the result pane.

Options

When publishing certificates you may select the procedure to be used. The content of the Action drop down list depends on the publication procedures available in the current configuration. The publication actions are of type 'Publish - <publication procedure>'.

It is possible to change the revocation password when the new certificates are published.

  1. In the CC user interface in Certificate Manager, open Action drop down list and select the publication procedure required.

  2. Select the certificates to be published in the upper half of the result pane. (Press the Ctrl key on the keyboard to make multiple selections.) If you want to publish several certificates in the same request, they will all be published using the same publication procedure.

  3. Click Add to move the certificate(s) to the lower half of the result pane.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. If you have the role Manage revocation password, you have three options in the dialog box that appears:
    1. Set - to set or to overwrite the current password

    2. Delete - to remove the password, or

    3. Keep current - to leave the current password unchanged.

    4. Choose one option, enter the password, and click OK.
  6. Enter your PIN code in Signature PIN.
  7. Click OK.
