Version: 5.8.3

Release Date: 2022-05-20

Detailed features list

Jira ticket noDescription

PIN caching in CryptoTokenKit (CTK)

PIN is now cached in CTK by default. This is controlled by the "CTK.CloseP11Sessions" configuration option and has been also been enabled in the "CSP_PKCS11" config section.

Automatic import of CA certificates in Windows

It is now possible to configure the Personal Desktop minidriver to automatically import CA certificates from the card to user certificates store in Windows. This is controlled by the "minidriver.EnableCARoots" configuration option and is disabled by default.

Plugout uses native SSL backend on macOS

Plugout now uses native SSL backend (SecureTransport) on macOS.

Corrected bugs

Jira ticket noDescription
PER-4482Certificates that do not have matching key(s) on the card can be saved in the Certificate Directory File (CDF) if "OtherCDF" (for usefulCertificates) is not available.
PER-4486Since all supported Firefox versions now use native CNG API on Windows, "AlwaysLoggedInMode" needed for usable PKCS#11 behavior was disabled by default.
PER-4487There was an issue where Personal Desktop Client crashed with some YubiKey profiles. This has been fixed.

There has been a change in default Windows configuration file regarding Firefox browser – see for rationale. If you want to keep using Firefox with PKCS#11 interface instead of native OS integration on Windows, re-enable “P11_AlwaysLoggedInMode=1” in the configuration file for it.

  • With this version of Personal Desktop Client we support macOS versions 12.3 and 11.6. This means that macOS version 10 is no longer supported.
  • Support for the new Cosmo V7 and Cosmo V8.2 cards on macOS is limited to PKCS#11.
  • The browse dialog for soft token import does not work on macOS Catalina. Instead, manually enter the full path to the soft token and click Import. For more information, see Personal Desktop Client user's guide.
  • Windows 7 is supported only under extended contract. Contact Nexus for further information.
