Virtual smart card - Manage option to control the PIN complexity

This article describes how to manage the option to control the PIN complexity in the use case Get virtual smart card (self-service user) in the Virtual smart card package. A script in Identity Manager Admin is used to manage the options.

Step-by-step instruction for the administrator

Log in to Identity Manager Admin
  1. Log in to Identity Manager Admin as Administrator.


Manage the option to control the PIN complexity
  1. In Identity Manager Admin, go to Home > Scripts.

  2. Select the script VirtualSmartCardScriptOptions.

  3. There are 6 variables in the script, see the example, see also section "Default value and outcome".

    Example:

    /* Defines the min and max length of the virtual smart card */ VirtualSmartCardOptionPinMinLength = 6 // --> CHANGE HERE VirtualSmartCardOptionPinMaxLength = 15 // --> CHANGE HERE /* Defines if upper case letters are allowed in the PIN * Valid values: ALLOWED (default), DISALLOWED, REQUIRED */ VirtualSmartCardOptionPinUpperCase = "ALLOWED" /* Defines if lower case letters are allowed in the PIN * Valid values: ALLOWED (default), DISALLOWED, REQUIRED */ VirtualSmartCardOptionPinLowerCase = "ALLOWED" /* Defines if pin digits are allowed in the PIN * Valid values: ALLOWED (default), DISALLOWED, REQUIRED */ VirtualSmartCardOptionDigitsAllowed = "ALLOWED" /* Defines if special characters are allowed for the PIN * Valid values: ALLOWED (default), DISALLOWED, REQUIRED */ VirtualSmartCardOptionSpecialCharactersAllowed = "ALLOWED"


  4. Click Save in the upper left corner to save the updated script (or exit without saving if there are no updates).
